PS Arts week is a weeklong initiative to celebrate the arts in the New York City public schools system. The week itself consisted of four gala events where the students performed at some of New York’s greatest artistic landmarks including the Met, Carnegie Hall, The Apollo and The New Victory Theater.
Our Initial identity exploration considered references to the New York Landscape, artistic tools, and typographic solutions as well as the figurative treatment we ultimately adapted. The assignment required a segmented branding system that leveraged color and iconography to promote the overall celebration as well as the individual art forms and their respective gala events.
The branding requirements included invitations and event programs that drew visual cues from the gala venues while providing maps, and robust event specific details. We designed a family event signage featured near event entryways and podiums to brand the environment. And of course the campaign included a website with general information, details for each gala event and other related happenings around the city. It also features a photo gallery of the students rehearsing their performances.
We were honored that the overall branding campaign is featured in the book “Design for the Greater Good” which showcased the best in cause and non-profit related, marketing.
